ThisSmallPlanet Review: Parquet Court live at the Doug Fir, Portland, June 12, 2013 (with photos & videos)

Brooklyn-based Parquet Courts played at Portland's Doug Fir last Wednesday (June 12, 2013).

They are currently on tour in support of their breakthrough album Light Up Gold.

Here's Andrew and Austin jamming like crazy on the final song of the evening, Stoned and Starving....

The set list...

I generally don't like the low light of the Doug Fir, and it's hell on photos and videos, especially for those of us using regular consumer-model devices. And I prefer videos that show close ups of the lead singer as opposed to distant shots of the whole band, but in the case of Parquet Courts, the interplay between guitarists Andrew and Austin is so vital to the sound that it pays to see both of them at the same time, with Sean on bass in between them, and Max on drums not-too-visible in the back.

The sound is pretty good though, and the guitar solos, feedback, and distortion are alone worth the price of admission.
