Pavement's Stephen Malkmus to Play Portland benefit show May 22






Sunday May 22 11 A.M.-2PM  - $8-$100    

Pancake Brunch Rock and Roll Show Benefit! On Sunday, May 22, 2011, musicians Stephen Malkmus (of the band Pavement) and Rebecca Gates (of the Spinanes) will each perform sets at the Rock & Roll Pancake Breakfast Benefit for Dara Greenwald. The event will take place at Disjecta Interdisciplinary Art Center at 8371 N. Interstate Avenue in Portland. A pancake breakfast will be served beginning at 11:00am until 2:00pm, with musical performances beginning at noon. The cost of admission is a sliding scale fee of $8 - $100, with pancakes, coffee, and juice available for an additional $1 per item. Dara Greenwald is an artist/activist based in New York City. Her internationally recognized videos, performances, writing, and curatorial projects critique capitalism and promote progressive social change. Greenwald visited Portland in February 2010, when the Pacific Northwest College of Art exhibited Signs of Change: Social Movement Cultures 1960s to Now, a broad survey of posters and other ephemera from international social movements.
